Manchester United vs. Manchester City - 3/8/20 English Premier League Soccer, Preview, Pick, and Prediction

News: - 07-03-20

Manchester United (WDWWD) and Manchester City (WWWWW) will meet on Sunday, March 8th for an English Premier League match at Old Trafford. The match is scheduled for a 12:30 PM ET start time.

Manchester United is coming off a 3-0 victory over Derby County in English FA Cup play in their last match. The match was played on March 5th, therefore Manchester United only has two days of rest before getting back to English Premier League play. Manchester United has not lost a match in their last five matches overall. They have split time in the FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, and English Premier League, so their schedules have been rather busy. In the win over Derby County, Luke Shaw scored first in the 33rd minute to put Manchester United. Odion Ighalo added two goals, one in the 41st and the other in the 70th to give Manchester United the commanding 3 goal lead and the eventual victory.

Manchester City has been on fire as of late, winning their last five matches overall. In their last match, Manchester City defeated Sheffield Wednesday, 1-0, in English FA Cup action. That match was played on March 4th, so Man City will have one extra day to rest when compared to Manchester United. Manchester City has only conceded two goals in their last five matches combined, as they are outscoring their competition 8-2 in that span. In the win against Sheffield Wednesday, Sergio Aguero scored in the 53rd minute to give Manchester City the lead and inevitable victory. Manchester City owned 80% of the possession and added 20 shots (nine being on goal). They also only conceded one shot, and it was not on target.

Manchester City won the last match between these two teams, 1-0 on January 29th in the English Carabao Cup. Manchester City also won another match in the Carabao Cup against Manchester United, 3-1 on January 7th. In the last English Premier League match between these two teams, Manchester United was victorious 2-1 on the road.

The defense's for both clubs have played exceptionally well as of late, and when we get later into the season, teams like United and City usually lock down on defense. I think the best play in this game is under 3.0 goals, as the most I can see this match being is a 1-1 draw or 2-1 victory for either side. A 0-0 draw is certainly not out of the question.
