(New York) The New York Jets awarded quarterback Joe Flacco a one-year contract on Friday.

This gives Sam Darnold an experienced reservist. A neck injury, however, ended Flacco's only campaign with Denver, and surgery was needed.

JL Sports announced the deal on Twitter, citing a mention from the NFL Network.
Terms have not been released, but ESPN has said the deal is worth $ 1.5 million, and that the sum could triple with performance bonuses.
Flacco, 35, spent his first 11 seasons with Baltimore. He guided the Ravens to the 2013 Super Bowl victory, being named the most useful player in the game.
In 11 seasons, Flacco has collected 40,067 aerial yards, including 218 touchdown passes. He committed 141 interceptions.
In February 2019, the Ravens traded him to Denver for a fourth-round pick.
He injured his neck in week 8, then missed the rest of the season. He was released by the Broncos last March.
Flacco had surgery on his neck in April, but he should be restored to training camp if the NFL can get ahead on this side.
