(Boston) Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics was suspended for a game for "threatening language" towards an official in an incident on Tuesday.
The suspension applied Wednesday in Boston, where the Celtics had the upper 120-111 against the Charlotte Hornets.
The sanction follows comments made during and after a game in which Boston was beaten by the Thunder, 119-115.
Boston is sixth in the East, two and a half games ahead of the Hornets, who are eighth.
The Celtics and the Heat have the same record, but the Celtics won in Miami in January. It gives them sixth place.
Clubs are trying to avoid the qualifying tournament, which will include teams from ranks 7-10.
