(Baltimore) JD Martinez was removed from the list of players sidelined due to COVID-19 just in time for the Boston Red Sox game against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, and he hit three home runs for lead his team to a 14-9 victory.

The Red Sox have won their last six games.

Martinez had the opportunity to tie a record hitting a fourth homerun in a single game in the ninth inning, but was struck out on momentum. He is the last major baseball hitter to have achieved the feat, he who slammed four long balls on September 4, 2017 for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It was then on 18 ^th  hitter in the history of MLB to have done.

The 33-year-old outfielder was back in training after being placed on the list of players sidelined due to COVID-19 on Saturday. He had experienced flu symptoms, but test results allowed him to return to the game on Sunday.

Martinez had four hits in six batting appearances, producing four runs.

He hit solo home runs in the third, sixth and eighth innings, in addition to adding a single in the fifth that allowed Enrique Hernandez to come in and score.

Rafael Devers hit two homers and Alex Verdugo slammed a good three-point long ball in the third for the Red Sox, who completed the three-game streak sweep between the two teams.

Devers has a home run in three straight games for the second time in his career. The Red Sox had slammed just seven long balls since the start of the season, before Sunday's meeting.

Nick Pivetta (2-0) allowed four runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in six innings at the mound.

Maikel Franco and Trey Mancini hit three-run homers for the Orioles, while Ryan McKenna hit a treble in the sixth to get his first career hit in Major Baseball.

The loss went to Jorge Lopez (0-2), who allowed eight runs and seven hits in just four innings.
