(Leon) Despite the absence of several of its key elements, Toronto FC pulled a 1-1 draw at Club Leon in the first leg of their round of 16 clash of the Concacaf Champions League on Wednesday in Mexico.

The Toronto troops, visibly exhausted at the end of the match, had to face many offensive surges from the Mexican club. The goalkeeper Alex Bono was particularly reported to the 86 ^th  minute with an important stop on a shot.

Fernando Navarro opened the scoring in the first half for Leon. Toronto FC was then tied to the 50 ^th  minute, when a goal against his camp was listed at the Andres Mosquera sheet.

The two teams had never met before.

Navarro was the first to score in the game with a right foot shot from the corner of the penalty area in the 25 ^th  minute. Bono, while diving, managed to touch the ball, but it hit the post before entering the goal.

Then, at the start of the second half, Erickson Gallardo tried to pass the ball to Jozy Altidore, but with a slide Mosquera deflected the pass over the shoulder of goalkeeper Rodolpho Cota to allow Toronto FC to get a goal abroad.

The second leg is April 14 in the Orlando, Florida area.

Toronto FC were deprived of the services of five of their starting players for their first official game since November 24.

Spain playmaker Alejandro Pozuelo, goalkeeper Quentin Westberg, defenders Chris Mavinga and Justin Morrow, as well as midfielders Jonathan Osorio and Nick DeLeon were all out for Chris Armas' squad.

The winner of the confrontation between Toronto FC and Club Leon will face the winner of the duel between Mexican club Cruz Azul and Haitian club Arcahaie FC. The two teams drew 0-0 in Haiti on Tuesday.

Toronto FC will open their MLS season on April 17 against CF Montreal in Florida.
