Fifth straight win for the Miami Marlins

Brian Anderson produced three runs and the Miami Marlins continued to wow with a fifth straight win, 8-7 over the Baltimore Orioles.


Anderson had a two-run single giving the Marlins a 4-3 lead in third.

Miami did not show a deficit thereafter and in seventh, Anderson produced the last point of his team with a triple.

The third baseman excels with a .304 batting average.


First hitter Jonathan Villar had three hits and stole a base.

Renato Nunez hit two home runs for the Orioles, who have lost their last four games.

Twins 5 Pirates 6

Kevin Newman hit a two-run single after a ninth inning strikeout and the Pittsburgh Pirates knocked down the Minnesota Twins, 6-5.

Newman ended a seven-game losing streak for the Pirates.

Gregory Polanco had contributed a three-point homerun estimated at 446 feet, which ended in the Allegheny River.

Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton and Eddie Rosario all netted four goals for the Twins, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.

Rangers 4 Athletics 6

Matt Olson hit a solo homerun to reach the 10 RBI milestone, helping the Oakland A's to a 6-4 win over the Texas Rangers.

The Athletics have won six straight, while the Rangers have lost three in a row.

Stephen Piscotty made it 5-0 with a sacrifice ball in the fourth.

Liam Hendricks got a fourth save.

Angels 6-Mariners 1

Shohei Ohtani hit a home run in his first appearance since being told he wouldn't be pitching again this season and the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-1.

Ohtani catapulted a starting shot from Mariners Taijuan Walker over the fence on the opposite field. It was his third four-goal shot of the campaign.

Dylan Bundy (2-1) struck out 10 batters for the Angels and had a third career full game. In 21 rounds and a third this season, he has passed 25 opponents in the mitt.

Giants 4-Rockies 6

Daniel Murphy slammed a two-run long ball in a seventh five-point inning for the Colorado Rockies, who defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-4.

Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon also hit a home run for the Rockies, which spoiled Tyler Anderson's return to Coors Field.

Anderson was the Rockies starter in the 2019 opener, but knee surgery in June ended his campaign. The Giants claimed it on waivers in October.

Reds 0 Indians 13

The Cleveland Indians scored 10 points in the seventh, ultimately crushing the Cincinnati Reds 13-0.

The push was capped by a two-run homerun from Jose Ramirez, also a solo slap and a one-run triple, earlier in the game.

Carlos Carrasco (2-1) allowed just one hit in six innings, striking out eight batters.

JT Realmuto hit a three-run homerun, helping the Philadelphia Phillies win 5-4 over the New York Yankees.

Phil Gosselin put his shoulder to the wheel with a two-run double.

Gary Sanchez of the Yankees hit a two-run homer, but his average is just .097 (three in 31).

Cubs 2 Royals 13

The Kansas City Royals ended a six-game losing streak by pulverizing the Chicago Cubs, 13-2.

The score was 9-0 after three innings, thanks in part to two-run homers from Whit Merrifield and Maikel Franco.

Jorge Soler and Salvador Perez hit three hits each; KC totaled 18.

The Cubs had won their last six games.

Astros 4 Diamondbacks 5

Kole Calhoun hit a two-run double in the ninth and the Arizona D'Backs prevailed against the Houston Astros, 5-4.

Calhoun was 0 for 4 in the match before his double against Ryan Pressly (0-1), scoring Tim Locastro and Nick Ahmed.
