(Lake Buena Vista) Robin Lod and Jacori Hayes hit the target within about a minute in the first half to guide United Minnesota to a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday in the quarterfinals MLS Relaunch Tournament Finals.

Lod first completed a three-way play in the 20 th  minute to break the tie 0-0. Hayes continued in the 21 st  minute of play by jumping on a free ball after a save by goalkeeper Daniel Vega.

Luis Amarilla, the 56 th  minute, and Marlon Hairston at the 86 th  minute, scored the other for United, who will face the Orlando City SC in the semifinals on Thursday.

Magnus Eriksson had restored some hope to the Earthquakes in scoring on a penalty shot during the 50 th  minute to reduce to 2-1 ahead of United.

Despite owning the ball for just over 35% of the game, United attempted 20 shots and 13 of them made it to the Earthquakes goaltender, who completed his night with nine saves. The Earthquakes attempted 16 shots, but only four hit the target.

The last game of the quarter-finals took place later Saturday between New York City FC, the last club to qualify in the playoffs, and the Portland Timbers.

The winning club will face the Philadelphia Union next Wednesday in the semi-finals.
